Elbert Griffin, Jr., 83, passed away on Thursday, January 29, 2026. Celebration of Life Service will be held Friday, February 13, 2026, at 1 pm at Griffin Mortuary Chapel. Interment will follow at the City of Lubbock Cemetery under the direction of Griffin Mortuary. Visitations will be held Thursday, February 12, 2026 from 4 pm to 6 pm at Griffin Mortuary.

Elbert Griffin, Jr. affectionately known as “Brother,” passed away January 29, 2026 surrounded by love and family. He was born to Elbert, Sr. and Willie Mae Griffin on June 13, 1942. He leaves behind a legacy of hard work, loyalty, and deep devotion to those he cared for.

Elbert was a lifelong farmer and a mechanic, as well as a devoted husband, proud father and grandfather. He was known as a generous man who would do anything to help others, especially when he believed it was for a good cause.

He is preceded in death by his parents Elbert Griffin Sr. and Willie Mae Griffin, his sisters Dorothy Mae Maxwell, Ella Nora Bean, Sedalia Gee, and Inez Huey, his wife Carol Ann Griffin, and his son Bobby Lavern Nolan.

He is survived by his brother Willie “Sonny” Griffin (Barbara), his five children, Eugene Griffin, Elaine Griffin, Robert Earl Griffin, Tammy Elaine Reed, and Michael L. Cleveland. He loves to cherish his grandchildren, Judi Webster, Kayla Lowe, James Griffin, Kevin Griffin, Meagan Shrimpton, Darrian Shrimpton, Aisha Griffin, Trevin Griffin, JaQuay Nolan, Tamara Reed, JaQuaila Reed, Tammaila Reed, his great-grandfather to Asiah Webster, Taylor Griffin, Kaiden Griffin, Kyrhianna Griffin, Kheelan Griffin, Eligha Lowe, Jr., KaBrielle Lowe, Trulyana Lowe, Miyana Childress, Mazlie Childress, Noah Cleveland, Trinity Cleveland, Triston Cleveland, Naomi Martinez, Ariah Smith, Ayahna Irsael, Ariella Irsael, and Caleb Gandara all each of whom brought him immense pride and joy, and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
