Doris Faye Hawkins, 73 departed this life on Tuesday, October 3rd, 2023. Celebration of Life Service will be held Saturday, October 14th, 2023 at 1 p.m. at Praise Center Ministries. Private Disposition under the direction of Griffin Mortuary. Visitation will be held Friday, October 13th, 2023 from 4 to 6 p.m. at Griffin Mortuary. Doris Faye Hawkins born February 17,1950 in Hearne TX to Marshall Hawkins Sr and Florida Allen. Doris graduated from George Washington Carver High School as well as from CCI Trade School. She worked for St Mary Hospital for over 5 years, at Lubbock Housing Authority as a painter for many years and she retired from Lakeridge Nursing Home when her health began to fail her. Doris would help anyone, if you were hungry she would feed you, if you didn’t have anywhere to stay she would open her door to you. Doris was also witty, bold, and blunt, so if you knew her then you know that you never had to wonder what she was thinking or how she felt about you, but if she called you her friend then you had a true friend indeed. Her love covered a multitude of people and will be felt for generations to come. She leaves to cherish her memories to her: Children: Daughter Kattie Johnson (Terry), and Sons Maurice Hawkins, Ellis Hawkins, and Jody Hawkins, Bonus Daughter: Delaine Scott all of Lubbock, Tx One Sister: Lucille Ealum of Fort Worth TX Good Friend: Patricia Dobbins Grandchildren: Byron Hawkins Sr, Jabroderick Hawkins, LaCandria Johnson (Joseph), Ricky Luke, Raivyn Luke, William Stevens, JaQuisha Hawkins, Robert Bunton, Rickante Brown, LaShawnda Russell, Chelsea Hawkins all of Lubbock and Rebecca Flores of Fort Worth. 44 Great grandchildren, 9 great great grandchildren, and a host of other family and friends that loved her. Preceded in Death by: Her parents: Marshall Hawkins Sr and Florida Allen, Sisters: Dorthy Bennett, Leola Allen, Mary Hawkins, Best Friend: Dorthy Green, Brothers: Johnny Allen, Willie Allen, and Marshall Hawkins Jr, Children: Vera Hawkins, Gregory Hawkins, Kelly McDowell, Grandchildren: Anthony Hawkins Sr and Ashley Hawkins, Great Granddaughters: Da’Nayla Samuels and Zkayjah Green
