Donald Ray Fowlks, 73, passed peacefully September 28, 2025, in his home in Lubbock, TX with his wife Barbara Fowlks, his children, and his beloved grandchildren by his side. Celebration of Life Service will be held Saturday, October 4th, 2025, at 10 am at Trinity Church. Interment will follow at Lorenzo Cemetery under the direction of Griffin Mortuary. Viewing will be held Friday, October, 3rd, 2025, from 4 pm to 6 pm at Griffin Mortuary. Although deeply saddened we rejoice knowing he is now set free. Donald leaves behind a host of family and friends who loved him dearly.

Donald Ray born the youngest of 5 children on November 4, 1951, to Kermit Lee Fowlks, Sr. and Bertha Lee Fowlks (Henderson) in Dallas, TX, was known for his humility accompanied with his outgoing personality he was easily crowned the favorite youngster of the neighborhoods “seasoned saints,” this beginning his journey to his acceptance of Christ. Sandwiched between Saturday morning cartoons and westerns, he still maintained his commitment to Christ attending neighborhood bible study every Saturday morning.

Understanding at an early age the power of positive reinforcement and self-worth, he would later continue to pour his values into his children and grandchildren “train up a child in the way he should go, and when his old he will not depart from it" (Proverbs 22:6)

Donald graduated from Lincoln High School, Dallas, TX in 1970. Following graduation, it was not surprising that Donald chose to study electronics at El Centro College, Dallas, TX, he always carried an unquenchable thirst to figure out how things worked. Donald would routinely take apart electronics, big and small putting them back together, which gave him great work ethics and bragging right along the way, work ethics that lead to a successful career at Mrs. Baird’s and Rainbow Bread in Dallas and Lubbock, TX with Donald receiving a State of Texas Pest Control License and holding several positions including maintenance and later a supervisory role within the company.

Before relocating to Lubbock TX, in 2001 Donald was an active member of Pilgrim Rest Baptist of Dallas TX, Donald later became a member of the Potter's House of Dallas where he became a licensed ordained minister. After establishing his residence in Lubbock Donald’s faith lead, him to Trinity Christian where he held various positions, he faithfully worshiped and held Trinity in his heart even after he was no longer able to fulfill his duties due to his health.

June 15, 2002, Donald married Barbara Fowlks (Mann) and enjoyed a life together with their blended family of 6 children, 16 grandchildren, and 1 great grandchild.

Preceding him in death were his parents, Kermit and Bertha Lee Fowlks, his sister Eva Lois Henderson, his brothers Kermit L Fowlks Jr., and Lawarence E. Fowlks. Donald is Survived by his wife Barbara Fowlks, His brother Willie B Fowlks (Wilma), his children Xiomara Ross (Derrick Ross), Vehon Fowlks, Letezia Fowlks-Johnson, Brian Lee Fowlks, LaCharleton Mann (Yketta Mann), TaMoya Cunningham, 16 grandchildren 1 great grandchild, 2 sisters-in-law and a host of nieces, nephews’ family and close friends.

The GRANDS

Donald throughout his life had many great accomplishments, his greatest being his children and forever unmoved at the top of the list his pride and joy “the Grands” in total 16 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild.
