Dewitt Donnell Bailey Jr., 69, of Lubbock, passed away on Sunday, March 5th, 2023, at 5:20 pm. Celebration of Life Service will be held Thursday, march 16, 2023, at 1 p.m. at Greater St. Luke Missionary Baptist Church. Interment will follow at the City of Lubbock Cemetery under the direction of Griffin Mortuary. Visitations will be held Wednesday, March 15, 2023, from 4 to 6 p.m. at Griffin Mortuary. Donnell was born on August 2nd, 1953, in Lubbock, Texas. Donnell Bailey was preceded in death by his father, Dewitt Donnell Bailey Sr., mother, Dorothy Faye Bishop, and oldest daughter Charlene Davis. He graduated from Dunbar Highschool, where he played football, and later attended Prairie View College and was a member of Praise Center Ministries.
Donnell was a loving father and leaves to cherish his legendary memories; four daughters, Towalame Austin, Tatenishia Lafaye Hardeman, Satori Bailey, and Ashely Hawkins; three sons, Taurus Deshone, Malcom Bibbs and Dewitt Donnell Bailey III; twelve grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Five sisters, Carolyn Brigham, Sandra Wallace (Charles Wallace) Janet Jackson, LeeAnn Smith, and Stacy Smith; one brother, Vernon Ray Bishop; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends to cherish him. Dewitt Donnell Bailey Jr., also known as Trash Can, T Can, Bubba, and Papa, was a beloved member of the Lubbock Community. He will be remembered as a proud father, a protective big brother, a ladies’ man, his undeniable fashion style, the greatest sense of humor, a mentor, and a kind and loyal friend.
