David Joseph Demsich, 74, passed away on June 2, 2026, in Lubbock, Texas, following a stroke.

David was born on October 18, 1951, in Aurora, Colorado. He lived life in his own way, with a creative spirit, strong convictions, and an independent nature. As a gifted artist and craftsman, David enjoyed woodworking, drawing, and painting throughout his life. He founded Beaver Wooden Toys and Crafts, creating handcrafted toys that continue to be enjoyed by his grandchildren today. He took pride in building things with his hands and expressing himself through his work.

In his younger years, David briefly served in the United States Army, an experience he often spoke about with pride. He also played drums in a band and had a love for hockey. He found great joy in fishing for walleye and perch on Lake St. Clair in Michigan and spent many memorable hours on the water. He loved riding his motorcycle, making homemade pizza, and preparing big weekend breakfasts for his children.

David was preceded in death by his son, Tim Demsich, and by his parents, Joseph and Dorothy Demsich. He is survived by his children, David Demsich, Jeff Demsich, Dale Demsich, James Demsich, Stephanie Choponis, and Stacey Demsich; his siblings, Debbie Taylor, Kathy Jenkins, and Joe Demsich; 16 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; and extended family members.

A private scattering of David's ashes will take place in Michigan in July for immediate family members.

David's life was marked by creativity, craftsmanship, and individuality. He leaves behind the artwork he created, the toys he built, the traditions he shared, and the memories carried by those who knew him. He will be remembered as a man who lived life in his own way and remained uniquely himself.
