Dave Smith, a remarkable soul whose life was a testament to love, dedication, and perseverance began his journey on October 1, 1968, in the vibrant city of Kingston, Jamaica. His unwavering commitment to his family, students, and community left an indelible mark on all who knew him.

Dave's life was a beautiful tapestry woven with threads of passion, integrity, and meticulous care. His favorite song, Frank Sinatra's "I Did It My Way," mirrored the essence of his character—a man who lived life on his own terms, with courage and conviction. His meticulous nature was not just a trait but a guiding principle that he instilled in every endeavor he undertook, be it as an educator, AAU basketball coach, a security guard at APEX event center.

Dave's journey took him from the shores of Jamaica to the heart of Texas, where he attended Frank Phillips College on a basketball scholarship. His athletic prowess and determination led him to Wayland Baptist University, where he continued to excel both on and off the court. His love for basketball was not just a game but a metaphor for his approach to life—strategic, passionate, and always aiming for excellence.

Dave's career as a teacher and principal was a testament to his dedication to shaping young minds. He was more than an educator; he was a mentor, a guide, and a beacon of hope for many. His influence extended far beyond the classroom, touching the lives of countless students who were fortunate enough to cross his path.

In addition to his roles in education and athletics, Dave dedicated over eleven years of his life to serving as a law enforcement officer for various school districts. His commitment to ensuring the safety and well-being of students and staff was unwavering. He approached his duties with the same meticulous care and integrity that defined every aspect of his life, earning the respect and admiration of colleagues and community members alike.

Those who knew Dave would attest to his loving and caring nature. He had an extraordinary ability to make everyone feel valued and appreciated. His infectious smile, kind words, and generous spirit left an indelible mark on all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Beyond his professional achievements, Dave was a man of immense love and compassion. His role as a father to his eight children and a devoted husband to his beloved wife, Taneka, was the cornerstone of his existence. Dave's love for his family was boundless, and he cherished every moment spent with them, creating a legacy of warmth and affection that will forever live in their hearts.
