On November 14, 1933, Conway Moore was born in Gause, Texas. He was the sixth of fourteen children born to Conaway & Pearl Ella Moore. Conaway left this world on October 29, 2024, in Lubbock, Texas, at the age of 90. Celebration of Life Service will be held Saturday, November 9, 2024, at 11 am at Hope Deliverance Temple. Interment will follow at Peaceful Gardens Cemetery under the direction of Griffin Mortuary. Visitations will be held Friday, November 8, 2024, from 5 pm to 7 pm at Griffin Mortuary. Conaway attended Gause Public School. He then went on to move to Lubbock, Texas, at the age of 18. Upon moving to West Texas, he worked as a gas attendant. Shortly after, he worked at Plain Co-op oil mill, where he resided for many years. After 15 years at the oil mill, he began a lifelong career as a truck driver. He worked for Merchant Freight for 15 years and then began working for Sun Freight, from which he retired. On December 21, 1956, he married the love of his life Willie Jewel Tanner. One son (Donnie Moore) was born into this union and preceded him in death. Conaway accepted Christ as his Savior at an early age. He made HDT his church home in 2013. At HDT, he devoted his time and money for many years of his life. His duties could be as small as changing light bulbs to as big as fixing the air conditioning. Conaway was involved in almost all of the Church's general upkeep until his health failed. In Conaway’s free time, he enjoyed spending time with his family, working in his garden, and ensuring his house was in working order. His family most recalls him as an encouraging spirit who always had an uplifting word or a strong hand to hold. Known as Uncle Buddy to most, he was a positive and sweet soul who taught those around him the core values of life. Uncle Buddy's absence will never go unheeded; he will truly be missed.
Loved ones that preceded him in death include his parents Conaway and Pearl Ella Moore, Sr., two sons Donnie Moore, and Ronnie Moore, one grandson Ronnie Moore.
Those left to cherish his memories include his wife Willie J. Moore, his sisters Celestine Evans of Compton, CA, Claira (Max) Bowens of Garland, TX, and Francis (Lozell) Carter of Dallas, TX, his loving granddaughter Demetria Moore, loving grandson Donnie Moore, Jr., his 7 great grandchildren, and a host of niece, nephews, other relatives and friends.
