Charlotte Marie Carter, 86, passed away Tuesday, February 3, 2026. Celebration of Life Service will be held Saturday, February 14, 2026, at 11 am at Parkway Drive Church of Christ. Interment will follow at Peaceful Gardens Memorial Park under the direction of Griffin Mortuary. Visitations will be held Friday, February 13, 2026, from 4 pm to 6 pm at Griffin Mortuary. Charlotte Marie Carter was born on January 12, 1940, in Dangerfield, Texas, to the late Tom and Polly Evans. She accepted Christ at an early age and became a member of Mount Mitchell Church of Christ.
In her teenage years, Charlotte’s family relocated to Plainview, Texas, where she attended and graduated from Booker T. Washington High School. She began working at an early age which set the foundation of hard work and dedication for years to come.
Charlotte moved to Lubbock in 1966. She committed herself to working and raising her five boys. In 2002, Charlotte moved to Fort Worth, Texas and joined Eastland Church of Christ where she was a devoted member until her health began to decline.
She was known for her kindness, inimitable fashion sense, and her unwavering faith. Charlotte enjoyed shopping at the thrift stores, traveling the country, dancing, baking various breads, and pouring love into her friends, family, and church family.
Charlotte departed this life on February 3, 2026 surrounded by her sons. She leaves behind a legacy of love, faith, and strength.
She is preceded in death by her parents; her siblings: Mae Etta, Joe, Mary Lou, Daniel, James, Robert, Tom Jr., Willie, Verbal, Vivian, Ivory Jean, Ruthie, and Mudle; her son, Billy Carter; step-children: Pam Carter, Marie Carter, Mitchell Hearn, and Kevin Hearn.
She is survived by her children: Jerome (Shirley), Joey, Parrish, and Anthony of Lubbock, Texas; her step-children: Jerry, Greg (Lynda), Brandon, and Sharon (Leonard) of Plainview, Texas; Frankie, Brenda, Michelle, Dwight (Cassandra), and Victor of Fort Worth, Texas; seventeen grandchildren; thirty great-grandchildren; one great-great grandson, Amir; lifelong friends: Tommie Jones and Eddie Hart, and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.
