Charlotte Ruth Cotton

Charlotte Ruth Cotton, 64, departed this life on Monday, June 5, 2023. Celebration of Life Service will be held Saturday, June 10, 2023, at 11 a.m. at Community Baptist Church. Interment will follow at the City of Lubbock Cemetery under the direction of Griffin Mortuary. Viewing will be held Friday, June 9, 2023, at Griffin Mortuary from 4 to 6 p.m. Charlotte Ruth Cotton was born January 27, 1959, in Lubbock, TX to the parents of Elliot Young, Sr. and Lillie Young. She graduated from Estacado High School in 1977. She began working at Texas Instrument of Lubbock, TX in 1977, where later retired in 1995. She began working at King's Convenient Store and Lubbock State School. Charlotte married Lamont Cotton, Sr. in 1977. She accepted Christ at a young age. In her later years, found pleasure and joy in helping family and friends playing lotto and watching sports. She was a die-hard Cowboys fan.
Charlotte is preceded in death by her parents, Elliott Young, Sr., and Lillie Young; two brothers, Elliot Young, II and Donald Ray Young; two cousins, Ashley Young and Andy Young.
Charlotte leaves to cherish her memory; ex-husband, Lamont Cotton, Sr.; two sons, Donald Lee Young, Sr. and Lamont Cotton, Jr. both of Lubbock, TX; brothers, Jesse Young of Lubbock, TX; and Jamal Ross of Odessa, TX; sister, Henrietta McDade of California; seven grandchildren, Donald Young, Jr., Charlsie Young, Likayaha Cotton, Malaki Cotton, Darron Simmons, Amiyah Smith, and Takayla Cotton all of Lubbock, TX; her beloved cousins, Mike Dixon of Lubbock, TX, Charles Releford of Dallas, TX, Constance Young and Cynthia Johnson both of Arlington, TX, James Young of Lubbock, TX, Robert Joe Holleman, Jr. also of Arlington, TX, Twilla Young, Greg Holleman, Sr. (Katherine) both of Lubbock, Trent Young (Aundrea) of Dallas, TX, Crystal Young of Arlington, TX, Sha’Tondrick Young of Lubbock, TX, Lavar Young of Arlington, Tx, Greg Holleman, Jr. of El Paso, TX, Arrius Holleman, Sr. also of Lubbock, TX ; a host of other relatives and friends.
