Charles Preston Flowers, Sr., 68, passed away on Wednesday, November 5, 2025. Celebration of Life Service will be held Saturday, November 29, 2025 at 11 am at New Generation Community Church. Private Disposition under the direction of Griffin Mortuary. Charles Preston Flowers, Sr. was a man full of love, creativity, and faith. Charles P. Flowers was born on February 5, 1957, to JD Morgan and Minerva J. Basey-Flowers.
Charles P. Flowers served in the military in the Air Force on an honorable discharge. Charles P. Flowers worked at Bell Helicopter as an aircraft mechanic. He also worked as an auto body mechanic on random jobs. He stated that “Snoop dogs” car was one of his 1st cars he worked on. He also worked on various computer jobs, rebuilding and repairing.
Charles Flowers was a faithful father to his children. Charles Flowers became a deacon for 2 years at New Generation Community Church, under the leadership of Pastor J. Doss, Sr. who served with faith and dedication for his love for God. Even when his health declined after his first stroke, his love for his children and family gave him the strength to keep going. Charles fought courageously until he couldn’t fight any more. Our hearts are saddened by his passing. We face a difficult reality that death is sure to happen.
Charles is preceded in death by his father JD Morgan, his mother Minerva J. Basey-Flowers, his brothers James B. Flowers and Calvin H. Basey, Jr.
He cherished his family deeply and leaves behind his beloved children and siblings who will forever hold him close in their hearts, his wife JoAnn Flowers (Dallas, TX), his daughter Charnita C. Flowers (Dallas, TX), his sons Charles P. Flowers, Jr. (Lubbock, TX), Dominic Goss (Dallas, TX), and Charles P. Flowers, II (Lubbock, TX), his sisters Creaster J. Lea-Henderson (Lubbock, TX), Lula Fay Lea-Black-Perr (Dallas, TX), Ruby J. Doss (Lubbock, TX), and Caroline A. Hill (Lubbock, TX), his brother Victor R. Lea (Dallas, TX), his grandchildren Nevaeh R. Goss and A’Zarion M. Moten, his nieces LaKesha Lea-Doss-Saunders (Atlanta, GA), Merilan M. Doss (Lubbock, TX), and Naomi D. Doss (Lubbock, TX), his nephews Milton J. Doss (Lubbock, TX), Michael O. Henderson (Lubbock, TX), De, Maurion Hill (Lubbock, TX), Quanbriaja Hill, A’Mauria Hill, Nicole Basey, James Basey, Chelsea Basey, and Calvin Basey, III, and a host of other relatives and friends.
