Carolyn Tryon

Carolyn Tryon, 68, passed away on Wednesday, September 16, 2026. Celebration of Life Service will be held Saturday, September 26, 2026, at 2 pm at Mt. Gilead Baptist Church. Visitation will be held Friday, September 25, 2026 from 4pm to 6pm at Griffin Mortuary. Private Disposition will follow under the direction of Griffin Mortuary. Carolyn was a loving mother, sister, grandmother, great-grandmother, and a beautiful soul whose presence could light up any room. She was truly the life of the party, always bringing laughter, love, and joy wherever she went. If there was music playing, you could count on Carolyn to cut a rug and show everyone how it was done.

Carolyn had a heart unlike any other. Her home was a place where everyone was welcomed, loved, and made to feel like family. She never hesitated to open her doors to anyone who needed a place to stay, a listening ear, a warm meal, or simply someone who cared. She was the kind of person who would give you her last without thinking twice, because giving and caring for others came naturally to her.

Above all, Carolyn cherished her family. She loved her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren deeply and took great pride in watching her family grow. Her love was unconditional, her heart was generous, and her family always knew they could count on her.

Carolyn’s laughter, dancing, loving spirit, and big heart will forever remain in the memories of everyone blessed to know her. She leaves behind a legacy of love, family, kindness, generosity, and joy that will continue through the generations.

Though our hearts are heavy with her passing, we can find comfort in knowing that Carolyn lived her life loving people, making memories, and bringing light wherever she went.

Carolyn is preceded in death by her father William Tryon, her mother Frances Tryon, her sisters Shurley Cleaveland, Barbara fowler, and Georgia Tryon.

Carolyn leaves behind to cherish her memory, her daughters Tuala Tryon-Caraway (JoJo) and Latrice Johnson (Derrik), her son Frederick Tryon (Kendra), her sisters Lena Tryon and Marilyn Brown, her brother William Tryon III, her grandchildren Shavonte’ Tryon, ShaBre’ Wilson, D’Maudrion Tryon, Tyshaun Bates, Qua Butler, Fredtayzia Jackson-Tryon, Fredtayvia Tryon, Faith Tryon, Coleone Tryon, Michasis Tryon, and Mekhi Tryon, 18 great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

She was one of a kind. She was deeply loved. She will never be forgotten.
