Carol Mae Savala

Carol Mae Savala, 82, of Fort Worth, Texas, passed away peacefully on September 21, 2026. Private Disposition under the direction of Griffin Mortuary. She was born on July 10, 1944, in Makawao, Hawaii, to Cecil Bragg and Lucy Freitas.

Carol was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend. She was a woman with a strong personality, a loving heart, and a sassy spirit that made her unforgettable to those who knew and loved her. She had a way of telling the same stories a million times—and somehow, they were still worth hearing.

One of Carol’s greatest joys was sewing. She lovingly made blankets for her children and grandchildren, putting her time, care, and love into every stitch. Those blankets will remain treasured reminders of the love she had for her family.

Carol was a devoted Catholic and carried her faith with her throughout her life.

She was preceded in death by parents Cecil Bragg and Lucy Freitas; her daughter, Dawn Lecker; daughter, Wendy Lecker; son, Rodney Savala; her late husband, Joseph Lecker Jr.; and her husband, Carlos Savala.

She leaves behind her sons, Bruce Lecker and John Savala; Bruce’s wife, Margarette Lecker; and her beloved grandchildren, Brittany Lecker and Selena Castillo, Craig Brown, Cailey Lecker and Geo Burns, Faith and Kayl Ratliff, Alabama Lecker, Brance Lecker, and Julia Savala. She also leaves behind her great-grandchildren, Lexton Beritiech and Leo Berry, along with many other family members and loved ones who will forever cherish her memory.

Carol will be deeply missed, but her love, stories, laughter, and the memories she created with her family will live on for generations to come.

She has now entered the pearly gates of Heaven, where we know she is reunited with the loved ones who went before her. We can picture her up there rejoicing, telling her stories, and giving everyone a little bit of that sassy attitude we all knew so well.
