Candace “Candy” Marie  Lewis, 57,  passed away on December 2, 2023 in Lubbock, TX surrounded by family and friends. Celebration of Life Service will be held Friday, December 15, 2023, at 12 noon at Agape COGIC. Private Disposition under the direction of Griffin Mortuary. Candy was born November 7, 1966, in San Francisco, CA to Thomas Cotton, III and Frances Johnson. Her father passed shortly after she was born. Her mother later remarried and she was raised by her mother and father Travis Wright. Candace met her husband, Curtis Lewis at church when she was 17 years old. They later married on June 25, 1988.  They have been married for  35 years. She attended Praise Center Ministries and later moved to Victory In Praise where her husband is the Co-Pastor.  She served at her church until her health would no longer allow her to  attend. Candy had  3 daughters , Chandra , Chezarae and a daughter that preceded her in death, Chelsea She also had 2 step daughters whom she loved as her  own.  Candy had a love for people and especially children. She adopted Malquisha Thompson as her own and she loved and cared for her sons as her grandchildren. Candy had many Godchildren that she loved dearly and she made sure that they knew of her faith in God as she took them to church. She also had many nieces and nephews that  called Candy and Curtis “mom and dad.” Candy is preceded in death by her biological father, Thomas Cotton, III; her father Travis Wright, and her daughter Chelsea Lewis. She leaves to cherish her memories: her husband, Curtis D. Lewis; Mother: Frances Wright; daughters: Chandra Lewis, Chezarae Lewis, Corozana Lewis and Te’Keyha Lewis; adopted daughter:  Malquisha Thompson: sisters: Carla (Ernest) Cleveland, Constance Wright; brother: Victor Wright; her adopted grandchildren: Jeremiah and Ja’Kabrein, her godchildren, Kamaria Kindred, Kamilah Bailey, Shannon Whitfield, Kameren Kindred, Aubrie’ Anne Franklin-Traylor, and Elijah Flowers, a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. Candy will truly be missed and her memories will forever be embedded in our heart.
