It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Apolonio "Paul" Ramirez, who entered into the presence of his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on August 1, 2026, at the age of 79. A Celebration of Life Service will be held Tuesday, August 11, 2026, at 1pm at Freedom Baptist Church. Interment will follow at Peaceful Gardens Memorial Park under the direction of Griffin Mortuary. Visitation will be held Monday, August 10, from 2pm to 6pm, with a wake service to follow from 6pm to 8pm at Freedom Baptist Church. He was lovingly surrounded by his family and friends.

Paul was a devoted husband to Mary Alice Z. Ramirez for 52 years, until death parted them on June 4, 2017. He was a loving father to his son, John Ramirez, who also preceded him in death on December 4, 2020.

Paul was also preceded in death by his father, Manuel Ramirez; his mother-in-law, Santos Sevier, whom he lovingly embraced as his own mother; his brothers, Jesse Ramirez, Manuel Ramirez, and Pedro Biaza; and his sisters, Cecelia Acosta, Augustina Ramirez, and Rita Biaza.

Left to cherish his memory are his daughters, Cynthia A. Ramirez, Priscilla R. Justice (David), Marina R. Picon (Richard), and Victoria M. Ramirez; his brothers, Joe Ramirez (Sally), Marcos Ramirez (Lonjenilla), and Rey Ramirez; and his sisters, McCala Villarreal (Guadalupe, deceased), Gloria Herrera (Emilio), and Maria Biaza.

Paul was the proud grandfather of six grandchildren and sixteen great-grandchildren, who brought him immeasurable joy throughout his life. They were blessed to know and experience the very best of him. He also leaves behind many beloved nieces, nephews, cousins, and in-laws with whom he shared close and lasting relationships.

From the young age of 17, Paul worked as a roofer until an on-the-job injury forced him into retirement. From 2000 to 2015, he faithfully volunteered with Lubbock Habitat for Humanity, generously giving his time, talents, and skills to help build homes for families in need. During his son's health crisis, Habitat for Humanity gave back to Paul by helping modify his home to better accommodate his son's disabilities and changing needs. His willingness to serve others reflected the kindness, compassion, and selflessness that defined his life.

Paul will be remembered for his strength, generosity, and, above all, his unwavering love for his family. Throughout his life, he worked hard, faithfully served others, and found his greatest joy in spending time with those he loved.

Those who knew Paul will always remember one of his favorite sayings: "If you want to keep a secret, tell nobody, and have no witnesses! “His greatest treasure was his family. His life was a testament to perseverance, faith, love, and strength. He leaves behind a legacy of hard work, compassion, and devotion that will continue to inspire generations to come. Though he is no longer with us, his memory will live on in the hearts of all who were blessed to know and love him.

As his granddaughters so beautifully expressed:

"You were the strongest piece of our family puzzle. Though your place beside us is now empty, your love will forever hold us together."

With hearts full of faith, we know that Daddy has been made whole. He has been reunited with those he loved and lost and now rejoices in the presence of his Lord and Savior, dancing through the gates of glory. What a sight that must be. We will love you, daddy, for the rest of our lives.
