Anthony Don Pendgraft, 72, passed away on Monday, June 22, 2026.  Celebration of Life Service will be held Thursday, July 2, 2026, at 11 am at Lyons Chapel Baptist Church. Private Disposition will follow under the direction of Griffin Mortuary. Anthony Don Pendgraft was born on August 31, 1953 in Lubbock, Texas to Willie and Marion Pendgraft. He attended Wheatley elementary, Dunbar Struggs, before proudly graduating from Dunbar High school in 1973. Following graduation Anthony enlisted in the United States Army. On December 31, 1973 he married Linda Henderson after receiving an honorable discharge from the Army, he discovered a passion for serving others, especially individuals with disabilities. Anthony devoted much of his life to helping those in need. He worked at the Lubbock State School for approximately 20 years. On May 30, 1987, He married Ladonna Hunter. They later relocated to Pearland Texas, where Anthony worked for Daystar. After several years, they returned to Lubbock, where he resumed his work at Lubbock State School, before joining the Lubbock Housing Authority. In addition to his public service, Anthony was an entrepreneur who owned and operated a painting company with his father-in-law.

Later Anthony moved to San Antonio, Texas, where he continued his life‘s work of serving and assisting people in need. It was in San Antonio that he met his forever love, Chavalia Martin. After many years in San Antonio, they made the decision to return home to Lubbock. Anthony accepted Christ at an early age and reunited with Church of the Living God under the leadership of his grandfather, Elder B. A. Russell. He later answered the call to teach and minister the gospel. Anthony recently joined Lyons Chapel Baptist Church, under the leadership of Reverend Wendell Davis. His faith in God remained unwavering even through his times of illness.

Anthony will be remembered for his compassionate heart, his dedication to serving others, his strong work ethic, and his unwavering faith. Whether through his family, his career caring for others, his coaching, his entrepreneur spirit, Anthony made a lasting impact on everyone blessed to know him. During his own illness, many nurses and doctors who had come to know him often stopped by to check on him, even when he was no longer their patient – a reflection of his witty spirit, kindness, and genuine love he shared with everyone he met.

Anthony is preceded in death by his grandparents Carter and Maribel Pendgraft Elder B. A. And Sorfinia Russell. His parents, Willie and Marion Pendgraft, his siblings, Petty officer first class Billy Pendgraft , Willie Rene Todd, marksman Royal Dwight Pendgraft , and Arneta Smith, and one great grandson.

He leads to cherish his memory, his daughters, Monica Davis (John) Antonia Titues, and Kadeeidre Pendgraft,one son Richard Anthony Pendgraft (DeLeslie). three sisters Rose Pendgraft Pillow, Jesse Pendgraft McGruder, Wilma Pendgraft Callicutt, one brother Clovis Pendgraft. & also A special granddaughter LaKonstance Louis that he loved as his own, 9 grandchildren 10 great grandchildren, along with a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. His legacy of family, compassion, perseverance, and faith will continue to live on in the hearts of his family, friends and all who were blessed to know him.
