Mr. Alvin Earl Davis, 63, passed away on Monday, September 29th, 2025. Celebration of Life Service will be held Friday, October 10th, 2025, at 1 pm at Bethel AME Church. Visitations will be held Thursday, October 9th, 2025, from 4 pm to 6 pm at Griffin Mortuary. Mr. Alvin Earl Davis blessed the world on May 17th, 1962, in Turkey, Texas, born to Clyde Sr. and Addie Louise Davis.
Alvin accepted Christ at a very young age in life. He attended church with his grandmother, “Big Mama,” Mrs. Ada Morris Dailey. His dedication and devotion for Christ couldn’t be ceased. He was very passionate when talking about Christ and helping to lead others to Christ. He always read his Bible every day, no matter what was going on in his life. He loved and trusted the Lord with everything within him. He belonged to God, and he knew that God was a constant source of strength in his life.
Alvin passed away September 29, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of love, kindness, and a joyful spirit that touched everyone who knew him. He was very, very kind and generous to others. He would give anyone the shirt off his back if they needed it. You could always find Alvin lending someone a hand. No one was a stranger to him. His sense of humor was phenomenal, always laughing, joking, and trying to lift up the spirit of someone else. He will truly be missed for his kindness, love for God, and love for others.
Personal Life & Career: Alvin’s first marriage was to Nicole Forster, and to this union one child was born: Mercedez Daquin Davis, whom he loved dearly. Later, he married Ponizetta Gibson, his devoted wife. He worked for many years at the Lubbock State School, helping and caring for clients with patience and dedication. Later, he attended Truck Driving School, where he earned his CDL certification and went on to work for several companies throughout his trucking career.
Survivors: Alvin is survived by his loving wife, Ponizetta; his sister, Angela Pipkins (William); brothers, Clyde Davis Jr. (Keshia) and Vincent Davis; stepchildren, Robert Gibson (Suree), Temika Gibson, and Christi Gibson Hollins; grandchildren, Robert (Stephanie), Denique (Skylar), Kyren, James, April, Maya, Sergio, and Leigha; eight great-grandchildren; aunt, Gladys Williams (Mannie); uncles, Marnie Williams, Lewis Watkins, L.V. Morris, and Nelson McCarty; mother-in-law, Mrs. Ruby Phenix; and a host of other family and friends. He was a faithful member under the leadership of Pastor Adna Bean at Bethel AME Church.
Preceded in Death By: His beloved mother, Addie Louise Davis Ford; father, Clyde Davis Sr.; grandmother, Ada Morris Dailey (“Big Mama”); and special cousin, Loretta Dean Harris; aunts, Annie Davis, Mary Dean, Katie Wisemann Mattox, Cerola Lewis, Hattie Watkins, and Florine Morris; uncles, Virgil Morris, Jr. Jimmy Lewis, L.C. Morris, and Joe Lynn Buckley.
A Life Remembered: Alvin’s life was a shining example of faith, generosity, and joy. He loved deeply, served
faithfully, and lived fully. His laughter, kindness, and unwavering trust in God will forever
remain in the hearts of all who knew him.
