Alberta Griggs Lilly

Alberta Griggs Lilly , 66, departed this life on Tuesday, July 18th, 2023. Celebration of Life Service will be held Friday, July 28th, 2023 at 11 a.m. at True Worshippers Church. Interment will follow at the City of Lubbock Cemetery under the direction of Griffin Mortuary. Alberta Griggs Lily was born on February 11th, 1957, to the parentage of Eunice and Roberta Griggs. After being relocated to Lubbock. She was educated in LISD completing the 12th grade. She worked for many years partly in schools with special needs children, which was her passion.
She was a great asset to her Pastor and True Worshippers church, where she earned the title Tambourine Queen. Her favorite song was Praise the Lord everybody. With a smile so valuable that can’t be brought, begged, borrowed, or taken away.
Alberta is preceded in death by her mother and father, four brothers, Jessie, Hilford, Charles, Lon Griggs; two sisters, Jessie Mae and Hattie Mae.
Alberta leaves to cherish her memory; her loving husband, Gregory Lilly (Dr. J.), four sons, Lacy Gibbs, Jermaine Gibbs, Josiah Lilly (Brook), and Kwaimaine Lily; thirteen adorable great grandchildren, twenty-six loving grandchildren; one of the home, Jariah Lilly; two brothers, E.J. (Dorothy) Griggs and Robert L. Griggs; three sisters, Joyce (Bufus) Lee, Lillian (Kenneth) Ware, and Rosie Green; one aunt, Annie Marie Bryant; a special cousin, Ronnie Nelson; one sister-in-law, Madelyn Griggs; a host of other relatives and friends.
