Albert Richardson, Jr., affectionately known as “Junior,” 93, was born on October 29, 1932, in Corsicana, Texas, to the late Albert and Lettie Richardson. On January 6, 2026, Albert peacefully answered God’s call and transitioned from labor to reward, leaving behind a rich legacy of faith, love, laughter, and service. Celebration of Life Service will be held Friday, January 16, 2026, at 1 pm at Griffin Mortuary Chapel. Interment will follow at the City of Lubbock Cemetery under the direction of Griffin Mortuary. Albert lived most of his life in the Midland–Odessa, Texas area near his children. In later years, he relocated to Lubbock, Texas, to be closer to his beloved sister, Ruthie Harris, where he resided until his passing.
At an early age, Albert accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior. He joyfully sang in an adult male quartet, using his voice to glorify God and uplift others.
Albert attended Dunbar High School in Lubbock, Texas. After graduating, he honorably served his country in the armed services. Upon discharge, he embarked on a long and dedicated career as a truck driver. He took pride in his work and continued driving even after retirement, stopping only when his health no longer allowed him to do so.
Albert truly enjoyed life and embraced it fully. He was known as the heart of any gathering, bringing joy wherever he went. He loved music and often served as a Disc Jockey at events. A man of style, Albert had a passion for fashion, an admiration for automobiles, and a deep affection for dogs. He was quick-witted, loved playing games, telling jokes, and his contagious laughter could fill any room. That radiant smile of his could brighten even the darkest day. Albert also had a generous heart, frequently offering financial assistance to those in need.
Albert was united in marriage to his first wife, Louise Richardson, and from this union were born three children: Calvin Richardson and Alvin Richardson (Pamela), of Odessa, Texas; and Octavia Thompson of Round Rock, Texas. He was also a proud stepfather to Glenda Walker (Billy) of Dallas, Texas; Pamela Shepard (Woodie) of Norman, Oklahoma; and Chauncey Cox, Sr. (Cathy) of Odessa, Texas. He is preceded in death by his wife, Louise; parents, Albert Richardson and Mrs. Lettie Carrington; two brothers, William (Pepper) Richardson and Earline Richardson; and one sister, Ellar Jones.
Albert leaves to cherish his precious memories, his children, a host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews who loved him fiercely. As a known favorite, he was lovingly referred to as “Uncle Junior,” a title he proudly wore with joy and affection. His absence will be deeply felt by all who knew and loved him.
Though he is no longer with us in body, we rejoice knowing that Albert has received his heavenly reward. As Scripture reminds us, “Well done, good and faithful servant…enter into the joy of thy Lord” (Matthew 25:23). His life was a blessing, his memory a treasure, and his love a gift that will remain forever in our hearts.
