AC Barnes, Jr.

A.C. Barnes, 68 of Slaton, departed this life on Wednesday, July 12th, 2023. Celebration of Life Service will be held Saturday, August 5th, 2023 at 11 a.m. at Griffin Mortuary Chapel. Private Disposition under the direction of Griffin Mortuary. A.C. Barnes, Jr. was born on April 26th, 1955, to A.C. and Ruby Washington Barnes in Slaton, TX. He was born one of 12 children. He was raised in Slaton, TX. He worked hard for several years for Grow AG Seed before getting hurt and becoming disabled. AC enjoyed being with his family nicknamed “Junior Boy”. AC has three sons and two daughters. He married Gloria Boyd for twenty-five years before separating. AC is preceded in death by his parents, daughter, Sharonda Hastings, brothers, Lee Andrew Washington, Leonard Barnes, and Linell Barnes, sisters, Dorothy, Ruby, Jewel, Erma Jean, Mary Jo, and Alberta. AC is survived by his sons, Eric Cox, Jeremy Boyd (Nicole), and Adrean Boyd (Gracie); daughter, Carnica Humphrey (Lonnie); brothers, Lee Roy Washington and Marzelle Barnes; sister, Elaine Barnes; 19 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren; a host of other relatives and friends.
